Living a life that is free from harm and abuse is a fundamental right of every individual. Our vision is to commission services that protect individual human rights, promote dignity, independence and well-being, hear and respond to the needs of children, young people and adults and carers
We recognise safeguarding as a high priority. In order to achieve this we ensure we have arrangements in place to provide strong leadership, vision and direction for safeguarding. We make sure we have clear accessible policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation, statutory guidance and best practice.
We have a clear line of accountability for safeguarding within CCG. An Accountable Officer and executive lead for safeguarding are in place, and responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults is within the portfolio of the Nurse Director who is supported by the Deputy Director of Safeguarding. The designated professionals for safeguarding and looked after children are an integral part of CCG activity. It is also recognised that safeguarding is an extremely challenging and complex field and that strong leadership is required to ensure our most vulnerable members of society are protected from harm.
The CCG ensures that organisations commissioned to provide services have appropriate systems that safeguard children in line with section 11 of the Children Act 2004, and adults in line with the Care Act 2014. These systems include accessible policy & procedures, safer recruitment arrangements, training and governance.
The CCG is a statutory member of the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB). The Nurse Director and designated professionals are members of the LSCB and continue to develop and maintain our well established and effective working relationships. We fully support all relevant subgroups and contribute resources and expertise from health commissioning.
