Across north east London, the East London Health and Care Partnership (ELHCP), which includes Havering CCG, has been working to develop a local response to the NHS Long Term Plan. The Long Term Plan sets out an ambitious vision for the NHS over the next ten years and beyond as medicines advance, health needs change and society develops.
The focus this year is suicide prevention – and ensuring those at greatest risk of taking their own life know that help and support is close at hand.
Women aged between 50 and 70 are invited for regular breast screening every three years under a national NHS programme. Latest data shows take-up rates for screening in Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge were below the national average, whilst in Havering, the rate is slightly higher.

A new community-based clinic for women over 18 years old in London who are affected by female genital mutilation (FGM) is opening its doors at a medical centre in Chingford. The new clinic is one of six new community-based clinics being launched nationally offering a range of support services to women including assessments and treatment, counselling, advocacy and safeguarding, as well as onward referral to a specialist consultant where required.
